New Jobs2 Process

 

Vector Jobs-2 getting started, 2 axis contour milling and drilling:

1) Start Vector

2) NC-Jobs-Job Table (J-hot key to toggle table on and off)

Note that Job-Start and Job-End are automatically added to the job table

3) Draw-Other Curves-Rectangle, accept all defaults and click OK

4) View-View All (V-view all hot key)

 

 

5) NC-2D Milling-Contouring

6) Click Select Tool

7) Click Lib to import some preset tools.

 

8) Select tooltableInch.ttd, Open

9) Click List and select T5, .312 end mill, then OK

10) Enter Depth .25, and Step .125, click tool correction none, Contour right, and enter .312/2 in offset, then TAB

Note the .312/2 was automatically calculated to .156 when TAB was pressed.

 

11) Click OK.

Note addition of

"Contouring" to Job list, and calculation of machining time.

12) F2 to unselect all

 

13) Draw-Arc-Circular Hole Pattern, enter values as shown below

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

14) Draw-Point-Arc Center (optional method for drilling, Vector JOBS will also drill the arcs directly)

 

15) NC-Drilling-Drill

16) Select Tool, select the .25 drill and OK

17) Set Depth to -.5, then OK

 

Note the addition of the Drill operation to the job table.

 

18) Unselect all ( F2), the Select ALL (Ctrl-A new Vector Hot Key).

 

19) Click the Define Stock Box Icon on the Jobs tool bar

 

20) Enter 0 for Z max, and DX=.25, Dy=.25, OK  This will place a stock box with .25 margin all around the part and no material in the Z+ direction.

 

 

21) F2 to unselect all, and then View-3D views-Default

 

 

22) Click the simulate button  to simulate the program cutting from a block of material.

 

23) If this were a part to be cut from the block, the drilling would have been done to a loose part with other than the desired results Change the result by rearranging the order of operations on the job list.

 

Click the Job<Drill> in the job table to select it

24) Now click the Job Move up button on the Jobs toolbar (just once) to move the process up the list.

 

 

The part can be simulated again to verify the correct order of operation is set.

25) Next click the Insert NC button on the Jobs toolbar.

 

 

 

Scroll down the list and select the isov11us post processor, then OK

Save it in the folder named: c:\VECXI\cfg\ or similar where you have installed Vector XI

The next screen shows the editor and the Cad drawing, and the job list. 

(Remember that you can hide the Job list by pressing the J hot key, press ESC to remove the rendered simulation and return to the wireframe CAD view)

 

26) Click the NC-Generate button on the Jobs toolbar to create the CNC program.

 

Select File-Export to save the text into a file for use by a PC based machine controller, selecting a floppy, USB, or networked mass storage device., or File-Send to transmit the CNC program to a CNC machine with an RS-232 serial interface for file up and down loading.
